GT3 oil pump vs 993 stock

I am considering upgrading the 993 stock pump with a GT3 oil pump...

Would it be useful on a street/DE car or is just a waste of money?

It should have an extra pick up point which enhances scavenging.
Output should be the same and it should be made of iron ald aluminum instead of mgnesium.

What do the experts here think?

I bought one in November thinking that the price may be more reasonable now while they're plentifully. The one thing that surprised me was how it freewheels for a few seconds after spinning it by hand. It's still dry though no oil to slow it down.

I believe it has an additional stage on it (at least compared to the early one its replacing on my car).

For a race car its great as it allows for the proper pressure when using large diameter lines.

GT3 RS pump (83 liters per minute, scavenge side 135 liters per minute).

GT1 pump, also used on the Turbo LeMans GT and certain other race cars (83 liters per minute, scavenge side 160 liters per minute)

the 964 is mg,pressure side = 65l/min, scavange side = 1.84 x pressure side
the 930 3.3 is al/cast iron,pressure side = 100 l/min(best I remember) and is 8mm longer than the 964 pump ie needs a different shaft

If you are replacing the pump any way yes, otherwise the 993 pump is pretty good.

No I am not replacing the pump. But in building the motor from schratch one gets to choose...

I see people with 3.3L's replacing their stock pump with a GT3 RS pump. From your pictures and oil volumes it looks like the pressure stage is shortened to make room for the second scavenge stage, thus increasing scavenging, but decreasing pressure side volume. Is that a good idea?

There's no doubt in my mind that the GT3RS pump is a more capable pump , but do you need it?

The 930 and 964 pumps are pretty darn nice pieces too. For a 24hr of Lemans or Daytona motor sure, but why replace a perfectly serviceable item, the list is long and expensive as to what can and should be up graded. The decision that is up to each of us individually is, where do you draw the line for our use?

I was thinking about doing the same thing. I was going to increase the piston squirters to the 964 and put in the GT3 pump. But after speaking with Walt at Competition Engineering and Henry at Supertec he told me that my SC pump was plenty good unless I was going to live on the race track. It will only buy you piece of mind nothing else. And it won’t give you any extra HP. So I opted against it.
Here are the Specs on my motor.
My engine is going to be based off of a 911 3.0 case:
Shuffle pined & boat-tailed
102 P&C’s mooned 10.8.1 CR
70.4 mm crank
Pauter rods
Heads are ported and twin plugged by Heritage Motorcars in FL & Custom Inconel and Titanium valve train made by them reducing weight by 281.96 grams
Custom Cams made my Heritage Motorcars for heads above.
Light flywheel & Pressure plate.
Entire rotating assembly balanced to 8500 RPM with in 1 gram
Jenvey ITB’s with aftermarket ECU
