1st gear only...help
 

Just put my 83 motor back into car after repairing broken head studs. I did not disassemble any part of clutch. Engine starts but I can only get it into 1st gear. It actually feels like its going into gear on the stick but clutch does not engage. Any advice as to what I did wrong would be appreciated.

It sounds like your shift coupler is adjusted improperly. You may be actually putting it in third gear which give the impression of clutch non-engagement.
