The "9930" Project

Here is some info for the many that have been asking...

"9930" = 89 930 cabrio with a 993 turbo retrofit. Target (600hp this year, 700hp+ next year).

-> 993 - 3.8ltr twin plug (twin) turbo in a 930.

->993 crank, carillos, ARP head studs, 964 case,
-> GT3 Oil pump.
->102mm JEs - making it a whopping 3.8Ltr. 8:1- comp. (to be verified).

-> upgraded 993VarioRam heads with valves/springs (51.5mm intake valves, 42.5mm ex valves, and 43mm intake port),
->993 cam holder/towers, 993 GT EVO cam, RSR (solid) rockers.
->993 plastic intake upgraded with TT couplers to be mated to a custom built intercooler (still being spec'ed).

I am considering twin turbo, but that is next winter's project but for now Going to use GHL headers and k29 to finish (only because i have them). Tial 46mm WG, and Tial 50mm BOV. May upgrade to a Garett GT35R turbo or go TT - pair of GT28Rs (or better).

Using DTA P8PRO for ECU - sequential. . Driving RC 750cc injectors and 8channel AEM CDI driving 6 MSD Dual coils (not wasted spark).

Need to solve problem with mating 993 to race clutch/pressure plate to G50/50 trans. Anyone have any suggestions? Would love to have a flywheel triggered system.

i will post pics when i get further into the project.

the only problem i can see at this point is power. i dont think you'll have enough.

!!!!!!!!

Andy:
That is true - that is why i am considering twin Garrett GT28Rs (custom built) to push me close to the 800hp mark.

I feel so inadequate with my GT20's :(

Mic,

Are you sure your exhaust valves are 51.5 mm? That sounds more like intake valves.

Mic,

The DTA is kinda picky about what crank sensors it can use. So a flywheel pickup might be a problem.

Dean:

I expect from the documentation, as long as it is a 60-2 tooth trigger system.

dean 02-10-2006 07:34 PM

Or 36-1. Like I said kinda picky:)

Rob:
You are right my mistake the intakes are 51.5mm (Euro RS) and exhaust are 42.5 mm (Turbo)

'9930' = 930 + 993 3.8ltr turbo motor

My dream car looks something like this:

IMHO it should look failry stock on the outside but modern on the inside (993 3.8T engine), 6- speed if possible.
Is your's gonna be a track day car or daily driven? Pls give us pics when the project starts.

Cheers,
Taffy
