what should i do?
Hi
I just about to start rebuilding my 911. Its my second Porsche. and is an amazing car to own. im not sure if either of my options are achievable? Or if its easier to just buy a new motor? Will 2.2 barrels and pistons, fit on a 2.0? as in a straight fit? and get away with the smaller head ? I was also thinking ... about using 2.7 pistons and barrels to drop compression and supercharge it. I have read it takes it down to 7.5 and that would be just about perfect... anyones opinion is most welcome and valued. kindest regards Phillip www.tycoon.net.au Last edited by philski; 10-25-2008 at 04:19 AM.. |

Try not, Do or Do not

2.2 pistons and cylinders will bolt directly to a 2.0 platform. The 2.0 heads will need to be machined to fit these barrels.
The 90 mm conversion will make a 2.5 short stroke engine with a calculated compression loss of .5 . That means if you start with 8.5:1 you will end up with 8.0:1. This is a nice little turbo/ supercharged combination if you use an aluminum case 2.0 and limit the boost. The structural integrity of the aluminum case is compromised when you exceed 260 ft/lb of torque. The mag case would prove to be totally inadequate hence inappropriate for building this type of high performance engine.

Thank you
Wow Henry. you really know your Porsche's..
Here in country Tasmania,, there are not a lot of Porsche owners i can ask questions..so thank you. I will go the 2.2's, till i can get a stronger case then. S pistons, E cam, extractors, and shave, o-ring and port the head. And keep my eye out for a stronger crank case... Thank you again Phillip ![]() |
