Jeff Alton 03-31-2007 08:46 AM

It was postponed due to a family emergency. Hoping to get it done when the twin plug turbo motor shows up for assembly.....

Cheers

So, I had an hour of spare time tonight, for a change and look what happened!!!!

From this:

To this:

And that leaves this for the twin plug 3.3 turbo motor to land on:

I heard the car sigh (it has not seen its motor for about 18 months) and then I saw a wet spot on the floor underneath it..... :)

Cheers

Facey 04-05-2007 08:34 PM

wow, looking nice!!! i bet your dancing around like a 4 year old who needs to pee...

who's 3.3L turbo will you be building? i'm assuming there will be a thread on it?

Jeff Alton 04-05-2007 08:45 PM

That is too funny, my 4 year old does indeed dance we he needs to pee! Hmmmmm, I opted to open a nice bottle of wine instead!

The 3.3 is for a local customer. His car has been apart since the early 90's!! He had the heads rebuilt and twin plugged right at Garretsons right before they went out of business. He had to drive down there to get his parts back but I think he got some good buys while he was there.....

Yes, I will post a thread about the build, it won't take nearly as long as there is a 3.2 build pending as well.

My own stuff takes so long because it takes a back burner to other's needs.

Cheers

Thanks guys, hoping to finish up the wiring in the next few days. Have not had any time this week yet to work on it...

Cheers

Jeff Alton 06-09-2007 09:25 PM

Well, the next few days turns into the next few weeks......... :) The coils and igniton are done, same as the fuel plumbing. I have had zero time to work on this thing. But, I did manage to get the oil cooler baffle and oil cooler in.....

Here is the cooler and baffle...

and here are the ecu/ignitor box and the harness. They will be mounted on the firewall.

And the digital dash will be in one of the two places shown in red.....

Jeff,

Really like that oil catch can/ breather pictured in the last shot of your motor. Who makes that little guy?

Jeff Alton 06-10-2007 12:33 PM

That one is made by Moroso. It has a drain on the bottom that I ran out below the car with a petcock on it. I also had to cut down the filter to fit it in there where I wanted it.

That backseat looks familiar. Did you lay things out on the floor before tossing it all in? I went back and did that to help with the mental picture.

Best of luck.

Jeff Alton 06-11-2007 07:11 AM

It is all just sitting there right now, tonight I will seperate the harness (on the floor beside the car) to figure out which wires need to pass through the fire wall and which ones don't.

Cheers

Jeff Alton 07-22-2007 10:00 PM

Well, progress is slow, but I am getting closer now...

The car (ecu) is now communicating with my laptop....... Everything is wired in and I just have to connect the fuel filter and the fuel lines in the engine bay. I am bringing the ECU tuner up to the garage for the initial start up to make sure it fires, then we are towing the car to the dyno for a break in and tunning.

Jeff,

Looks like you are getting close now! Be sure to take lots of pictures of the dyno runs and ECU tuning. I am sure there are alot of us who are interested in the details!

Kirk

Jeff Alton 07-25-2007 08:08 AM

Kirk,

The whole break in and tuning process will be extensively documented. I will highlight what I did right, what I screwed up, and what I would do differently. I will be sure to say "this worked" and "this idea didn't work".

The tuning will be a learning process for me, first time using a computer as my hand tools...... :)

Cheers
