993 Ring Gap and Side Clearances...anyone know what they are?

Hello everyone,

I am now measuring my new rings and I can't find in my 993 spec book nor shop manual any of the end gap specs nor the side clearances for any of the rings.

My understanding is the 993 cylinders have a slight taper with the top being smaller than the bottom to allow for the differences in heat expansion when running (correct me if I am wrong). I think the diameter is measured 54mm from the top of the cylinder but is that were I measure the gap?

On my first rough pass for the top compression ring I am getting a gap of 0.20mm at the top (0.079") to 0.035 at the 65mm depth with new Goetze rings.

I also do not know the side clearance as well.

Can anyone help me out here?

Cheers,

Mike
