Sealing up leaky 930 trans inspection/fork holder cover
My trans insp cover is leaking a little. Probably very simple fix. I was thinking of just NOT using that very thin paper gasket and using a layer of threebond 1104 as sealant.
Sound like good solution? Other suggestions? |

JoeMag,
If there is a leak, there is something else going on. This area should be dry inside unless the rear main seal or the transmission input shaft seal are leaking. Any oil that gets on the clutch plate or flywheel spells doom for the clutch surfaces.

Oh, T-H-A-T cover!
![]() I would use the paper gasket with Curil T on both sides.

Clean both gasket surfaces CAREFULLY with a razor blade and wipe it down with brake cleaner. Make sure to keep the blade perpendicular (90 degrees) to the surface and "scrape". Do not knick or cut the surface in the process. You need to get rid of every little bit of residue from the old seal. Then use the paper gasket with a thin coat of Curil-T on both sides. It will be bone-dry
