935 3.2 - Carrera 3.2 barrels
Can anyone tell me if the 935 3.2 cylinders compare well/at all with the Carrera 3.2 cylinders. Would the 3.2 Carrera cylinders give better service than the std turbo cylinder in a modified 930 turbo motor?
Thanks |

Probably the 965 cylinders would be the best choice. They are fully finned...

HI the 935/3.2 cylinders are 95 mm bore and thicker than the 3.3 turbo at 97 mm, i ran 935 pots/pistons on a hill climb car, thay will take more boost than the std' 3.3 pot's, the 935 and the 3.2 cylinders are both fully finned, PM me for speck' of the engine if you are intrested.
regards mike

cyl hgt
No, on the 935 and early air cooled 962 the cyls were longer because of the machine work on the case in the area of the cyl base they machined that area flat for more area on the base of the cyl and use "O" rings to seal the spigot on the cyl down in the case like the 3.8 RSR, and then they used a much larger base shim to set the deck hgt. Have you ever noticed the 930 base shims get mashed out from under the cyls. and cause a big oil leak? its from detonation, the narrow copper shims cant stand that so the race engines used a steel shim and it goes over the cyl studs and has much more area. so thats the reason for the longer studs/cyls.
