3.3 turbo rebuilt head cylender gasket question?
hi,
i am rebuilding my first turbo motor out of an 89 930 and i know you guys don't like motor mieter but i called and got some info out of him. Now i just want your guys opinion on what he said. he told me that i should buy his special head gaskets that don't need machining to be put on. is this true or can i just put the motor back to gether the way it was without a gasket? if i do this do i have to prepare it any way? thanks -larry |
The general consensus is that you really don't need head gaskets. Just make sure both surfaces are prep'd properly, flat and clean and use a good set of head fasteners like ARP and torque them down properly to spec.
I've used C2Turbo head gaskets in my build because I'm told it will handle a bit more torque at higher boost levels (before the heads lift off), but I don't see this happeneing since I've used ARP fasteners. Just extra insurance I guess. |
