decoding engine serial #'s 71 911T
Just bought a 71T project car. In decent shape, not running, in the process of pulling it apart. Got the engine out and the numbers according to my Porsche Family tree of serial numbers seem to be conflicting compared to other documentation. Just wondering if anyone can clarify the following.
Stamped with the following Chassis vin# 9111100271 (obviously a T) Engine type: 911/07 (apparently a T type motor) Engine serial #:6114456 (seems to point to an S in my book this is what i am trying to verify) Tranny serial # 9117700347 (apparently a 5spd S?) Car had Weber 40IDAPC31's on it, apparently S-type cams as they are stamped S on the ends of them? Haven't pulled them completely out yet to get part# off yet. Cylinders are aluminum fins not cast iron and pistons appear domed with valve pockets. any input is appreciated?? Is this possibly an S motor/tranny that has been put in after? its the 911/07 that doesnt add up i guess? plus no mechanical fuel injection, but any ideas? thanks, erik ![]() ![]() Last edited by kandhmfg; 04-19-2006 at 07:17 PM.. |
