Heads Rebuilt
I sent my MFI heads off to Bob Hirst at Anchor Atlantic for R&R. Got them back yesterday and they are works of art. I have to admit, they were pretty grimy and well past their prime. I was kinda expecting a call saying they were toast. Bob did call but it was to get my nod to replace the intake valves. He said they normally just replace the exhaust valves but we needed to replace the intake as well. The heads had seen a previous rebuild and there just wasn't enough valve face left to reseat them. So, I have all new valves, seals and guides, and TimeSert'ed exhaust studs. He had to go to .028" into the cylinder/head mating surface because there was some erosion from leaks on two of the heads. He said I needed to double-check that there is no interference between the pistons and heads before assembly. That will be a whole other thread... It's cool that he puts his name on them in a couple unobtrusive spots. And, he put my last name right above the spark plug. I'm sure that's to keep track of them in the shop but it's great that my mark is there too. Pics:
