Camshaft Question?
My 2.0 and 2.5 race engines have Identical cams. (G60)
If I move to a G80 style Cam do I have to check all the clearances? (valve to piston, deck height) both engines are 10.5:1. Will the Cam timing be the same? Thanks in advance!

You are referring to GE cams from Jerry Woods I take it. The GE80's are a bit more radical from GE60's if I am not mistaken. If the lift is the same for both cams which I doubt you wouldnt need to measure piston to valve. Any time you change cams it is a good idea to check all clearances, it doesnt take long but it adds peace of mind. Unless you are rebuilding the engine then your deck height should be the same from the last time you built the motor. The timing specs are most likely a bit different as well. You need to get a spec sheet for the cams you want to change to and go from there.

They are actually webb cams, but the grind is the same as a GE60, When I do the change I will check the clearances.
Thanks

The 80 cams have more lift at TDC than the 60 cams. You will have to check clearances. Also you need to check for valve spring coil bind and retainer to guide seal clearance.
