What do you guys think of these p/c's?
I noticed this on ebay today. They aren't factory MAHLE, and it appears from the description that he's having them made somewhere. I don't need p/c's now, but I may later on, and the price is right. What do you guys think?
Usable? Chinese junk?

Those pistons look cast. I don't like cast pistons.

I was under the impression that most 911 pistons were cast, with the exception of S, RS, and other racing pistons. So says the gospel according to Wayne.

Yes, they are mostly cast. That said, the hi performance engines were forged for a reason. I guess it depends on your intentions. Stock E (or less) rebuild, then they are OK. Me, I won't use them.

True, you do get what you pay for, but consider this. MAHLE sells p/c's for vw engines, much like the cast iron cyinder/cast piston combination used on the 911t's. In fact, from the ones I've seen, the quality is identical. Since there are only 4 cylinders for the vdub, we can say that the set of cylinders for the 911t should be 3/2 more than the vw set., assuming quality sets the price. The vw sets go for around $200, so the 911t p/c's should be $300, right? All I'm getting at here is that if you got what you pay for, production p/c's could be had for $500 new. Seems skewed to me.
