RSR case shuffle /throughbolt mod

Hello all.

Can anyone provide detail about the special throughbolts used on the RSR to reduce shuffle?

I assume the oilways were diverted somehow, ?

We are considering having some specially made...any takers?

Kind regards
David

As far as I remember the crankcase through bolts for the 2.8 RSR utilised a finer pitch (1.25) thread - still used the passages for oilways.

The finer-pitch bolts were then used for the '83-on SC models.

thanks for that, Andy.

yes I also think that they are fine pitch..

The specific mod we are plaznning is to use the thro bolt with a swelling in the middle, a tight sliding fit in the case bore..

This will of course block the oilway at that point..

Kind regards
David

The bolts with the "swelling" did not block the oil way, IIRC. They were necked down and the "swelling" in the center section is the same OD as both ends. They were done like this to save some weight. The "swelling" was left in to aborb/minimize harmonics that may have been created.

Cheers

I didn't fax Neil yet, but am curious what the service costs. Mike, what have you learned? I am leery of shipping my case to England for machine work, not because of the distance, but because of the potential for disaster in shipping. My numbers matching case is priceless to me.
