OK, Ive got the head off engine, did not take off lifters, the only thing preventing complete removal is chain restricted by brown plastic chain guide. It has 2 round fasteners. How does this chain guide come off? is there some kind of nut or spring release? Then, when I get the head off, I can take it down in the shop where there is better lighting to see what I am dealing with. thanks

Wil, I couldn't imagine how I’d have disassembled and rebuilt my engine without Wayne's book, here's the link: http://www.101projects.com/911-Rebuild/index.htm Good luck, Stu Note, each chain ramp "snaps" onto two shafts, the chances of removing them without damaging the ramp is pretty low....these ramps are consumables during a rebuild

Wil, These chain guides your were refering could be easily removed by prying them out. They are just snag tigth held by the 2 metal posts/studs with grooves. Pry them from behind and will just pop off after sliding a few mm out. Installation is much easier. Just slide them and hear it snap and lock. Hope this will get you moving. Tony
