Question Upo

Unidentified Porsche Object.

What is this ?

I found it inside one of the breather pipes to the oil tank.
What does it do ?
Do I need it ?

Which line...? Is it the one that runs from the engine to the tank? Or the one that runs from the tank to the intake?

If it's the latter, it's probably the device that helps condense oil-vapors and allow them to run back into the tank...

Question

It goes between the top of the oil tank (near the filler neck) and what I think is the de-ice valve.

It is shaped like a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. I don't have one on mine.
