Cam Shims

Has anyone ever swayed from the 3 on the left 4 on the right for the cam shims? I stripped my timing sprockets off last night to tackle an oil leak from the timing chain housing to head gasket and found I had opposite to this. I remember during my rebuild I spent about 8 hours doing my measurements to make sure these were right, so im abit shocked to find I have opasite to what the book states. Im also pretty sure thats what I had on stripdown as well.

Steve

HI if the cam gear adjustment of the sprockets was checked correct then put them back, no set rule as to what shims go where, that is why you have to measure/check/adjust,

3 and 4 is just a starting point. I have seen as many as 5 shims and as few as 2. Every engine needs to be checked.

BTW: Mike , I think you sent me an email requesting some pricing and I deleted it .
Please send again
