MegaSquirt-II ignition table wanted
Hi,
I am ready to do some tuning on a MegaSquirt-II system running a 2180ccm flat four Turbo VW Type 1 motor. I'd like to get some pointers for ignition timing. Here is what I came up with so far. Does that look reasonable? I don't know what compression the puppy has. We plan 91 octane gas and not more than 10 PSI of boost. What do you guys think? Do I have too much boost retard, too much advance under decel.... ![]() Cheers, Ingo

If you go over 10psi according to your map, it looks like you might not have enough advance and will start over heating your exhaust. When i was setting the standard timing table on a turbo 944, i went to 24 deg advance at it's full boost of 14psi (just shy of 200Kpa). I know that air cooled's are different but you may want to either stick it on a dyno and see what it likes, or continue looking for someone with a similar setup.
EDIT: BTW, some of the guys who've converted there SC's to a little boost are running stock configuration with there distributors. This mean under boost they are at the normal 24deg advance for full load.

Hm, interesting comments. I also thought that I was retarding timing too much from seeing other boosted tables. I have worked on the iginition table a litte bit more and here is what I came up with. It has more advance at full boost though it's not 24 degrees yet. How does this look?

We just have to put in a new starter and then it's time to fire it up again. The old starter was on its way out whenever the engine gets warm. I'll get back to the board once we have some more data.
Cheers, ingo
