Turbo3.3 engine from 1992

Hello

I have a standard 2.7engine with a 915 transmission at the moment. The car is from 1977.
I'm rebuilding it into a 965 look.

I've found a guy who has a 3.3 engine for sale.

Does anyone know if it is possible to put in a 3.3 turbo engine in my car with the standard 915 transmision. What has to be modified..??

Engine also has a computer and a relais for the turbo itself, so electrical there has also be a lot of changes....????

So my question is it possible...?
And what are the prices for such an engine in good condition???

Regards
Porscheke

Almost nothing. It will bold striaight on but don't expect that 915 tranny to live long with added torque. Not doing burnouts and drag racing at red lights will prolong it's life but don't expect wonders.

No, "computer" is only part of lambda circuitry. Engine still has mechanical fuel injection so it should be fairly easy swap-in.

Oh yes. Expect to pay around 3000-5000 euros for engine.

Cool

So

I don't need the computer. Ok that's good news
What about the relais for the pressure spring?

Engine is rebuild and has only 2000km on it after rebuild.

Oeps

Forgot something.

I've seen the engine, one big difference that a saw is the clutch.

The clutch of the turbo is much thicker? so has there be something to be modified on the transmission or do you have to put the clutch of a standard 2.7 on the engine?

Regards

Yes, you need the computer as long as you plan keeping lambda sensor and catalytic exchanger.

And yes, you cannot use turbo clutch with short-bellhouse 915 gearbox. You will need some sort of strengthened 915 clutch.

"You will need some sort of strengthened 915 clutch."?

Any idee's how to do this. If you make the standard clutch wider, the fork (in short-bellhouse) doesn't fit anymore?

There are aftermarket 915 clutches that can withstand higher torque.

"SACHS Power Clutch, 911 (1972-86)" seems like one of choices. Our host carry theese:

Garage
Fitting a 92 turbo in an early chassis is quite a project.

The sheet metal, motor mount and oil feed line all need changing.
The dist. needs a very special and expensive box to operate.
The oil tank should be changed to accommodate the turbo scavenge oil line.

The clutch is an easy fix. The trans will work for easy driving.
The lambda system can be bypassed but not just disconnected.
All in all quite a project. Bottom line is it will fit.

A pre 90s turbo is a far easier proposition.

Sheet metal is not a problem I think

What do you mean about dist. & box what's it for and what are the prices?

Oil tank do you mean that it has to be changed into a 965 oil tank?
How is the clutch an easy fix??? this is much bigger than mine original ??

I'm interested in the engine because it has only 20000 km on it
