First time engine disassembly...are these bearings in good shape?

Gentlemen, finally got to the heart of my 3.0, crankshaft is out and bearings are all out and in their glory.

From what I can see, they are perfect, no signs of wearing through, no signs of damage, seems to indicate that the engine is actually in good shape other than it leaked oil like crazy.

Just for background, it is a 930/03 ('79 Euro SC), which allegedly had the 98mm upgrade...turned out it has alusil 95 mm P/C's.

Any experts out there offer an opinion/confirmation?

..here they are....

It's hard to from a picture but they look pretty good.
It is not uncommon to open a 3.0 911 SC engine with 200K+ miles and the mains are in great shape. Your engine seems to follow this pattern.

Crank looks excellent as well, I will be stripping the rods off of it tomorrow (case goes off to be cleaned, it is truly filthy). I need it cleaned to get some heat on it to get the head studs off.....I tried the Snap On tool, only 3 studs came off. I suspect if I put a torch to the case as is, it will be a raging inferno within about 2 seconds.

is there any demand for used SC crankshafts? I guess I can just try it on the classified list...then I can afford to buy my Supertec studs!

Nothing is wrong with the crankshaft, it measures std/std and I am thinking of selling it.

Only reason I am replacing the crankshaft is I want to build a 3.4 litre and so need a 74.4mm crankshaft to go with my 98 mm P/C's.

I did a test fit of the parts last night...I am now convinced that a Turbo crankshaft will fit in a Carrera case.....the evidence is self evident....

Hey Dennis - that engine yoke looks pretty familiar. Glad to see it is working out. I guess I should have signed iand dated it. You never know how many hands these things will go through. You can mark it down for a 2.2 rebuild in 2003.

Yes, it certainly bears the evidence of experience and a skilled hand....it has worked out great so far. I have a beam in my garage, put one of those baby hoists on to it and just lifted the engine up, complete with yoke on it. No problems, no risk, easy to do.

I'll sign it for both of us!

Thanks

Dennis
