Pulley Bolt Question, I lost my original..can I use this?

Alright, I lost my original pulley bolt but I found a class 8.8 M12x1.5 in 25 mm length at my local hardware store. It has a minimum tensile strength of 116,000 psi and is zinc plated, is this ok to use with a washer (2mm) of course? If not, does anyone have a 3.2 Carrera (84) pulley bolt and washer that is for an AC unit?

Thanks for your time,

Alex

No, an 8.8 strength class can't be tightened sufficiently and doesn't have the correct locking features to stay tight (see below thread). I suggest you order the correct replacement bolt; twisting off a bolt in a crank or having the pulley loosen are expensive problems.

crank pulley bolt - washer or no washer

Jim,

Your a life saver! Thank you very much, the forum you directed me too was very helpful and not to mention avoided a serious problem. I'll order the right bolt!

Best Regards,

Alex
