Walt:
Good point on the bearings.
So far, I tend to think that the damage is not severe enough to go much further. Removing a P/C and getting to the rod bolts and bearing is probably beyond Lee's ability. Pretty tricky to get in there. I can just see the frustration of getting the circlip back for the wrist pin after. Remember the fun of looking for it after it zooms off?

I guess 6 new exhaust valves, maybe some seats, new stem seals.
After the heads are done, I would take a calculated risk by putting it back together according to Wayne's book concentrating on alignments, seals/gaskets, cam timing, valve clearance, etc.

Of course, the absolute sure way would be to split the case; it's a judgement call.

I'm in the process of putting it back together. The mechanic who recommended the machine shop I used saw the valves and said he wouldn't mess with the lower end.

All six exhaust valves were bent. One guide needed to be replaced. I'll line up the valves and take a photo soon.

O.K. Lee:
Pay close attention to section 6 in Wayne's book on sprocket assembly.
I had to leave out the gasket between chain case and engine case to stay within the max float of 0.5mm.
I suggest a dry assembly without gasket first, leave the triangle gasket out but use the large O-ring with lube, check the float and then decide.
Also, you want to have a little axial play in the cams so they can move freely. Don't mix up the cams, check for L and R.
Careful with the triangle paper gasket.
Take your time. Check the cam timing at least twice around.
