Recomended Machine Shops for 911 Valve Job

I am looking for a great machine shop for a 911 valve job, guide replacement, etc. I am on the east coast (Philly) but will ship my heads anywhere for a top quality job. Thanks for any recomendations.

I like Atlantic Enterprises. They are in Pittman NJ

Chris, what experience have you had with Atlantic? I have never heard of them, would be interested in their history.

I've been using them for years. Good prices, 2 day turnaround a lot of times, has the jigs for twin plugging and includes a bag of candy with your heads. I only wish they could do all my machining work but alas, all they do are heads.

I sent mine to John Walker's Workshop in Washington State. EXCELLENT person, price well within reason, EXCELLENT work. JW is highly respected in the 911 community for a good reason!!!

Steve Weiner in Portland

Ollie's is good as well, but not involved in our online community, as are Steve Weiner and John Walker. I think their helpfulness deserves some recognition.

Would anyone have John Walker's contact information? Thanks!

I know that Competition Engineering doesn't return phone calls. Not a good sign!

From what I have heard Cmpetition is the best they did all the machine work on my uncle's super 90 356 motor.

Anyone use Len Hoffman of Hoffman Machine down Atlanta way? He is on the bbs sometimes. Says he gives Pelicans discounts.

A local machine shop used by a local and trusted independent Porsche shop quoted me $105/head plus parts as required. Is this reasonable?

Lukesportsman 12-24-2006 06:17 PM

I was recently quoted $650 including the guides, cleaning, beading and sizing & machining and setting springs +parts. So....105 seems right in line with others.

They also suggested about $480 for twin plug so I'm pretty sure I'll have that added.

I'll second EBS. Their website http://www.ebsracing.com/ used to have a lot of service pricing but I see they've changed it.

JeremyD 12-26-2006 06:43 AM

I sent mine to EBS - but I have heard good things about Atlantic too

zbph10 12-26-2006 09:37 AM

I sent mine to Henry Schmidt at SUPERTEC PERFORMANCE and could not have been happier. $350 plus shipping. They look better than new.
