Value of engine apart?

Question for you engine gurus. Someone is interested in my engine that took a piston hit. My mechanic thinks the crank would be alright and the piston and maybe a rod would be the worst of the engine mishap.

Is this a fair price?

3.0 engine

$1000 if crank is damaged

$1500 is crank is ok

this would be a long block engine which has carrera fed tensioners and turbo valve covers.

trying to get a fair price

Jeff

I am asking if the price is fair? I feel like its under when I price compontents apart, prices are depend whos buying

Case $500 to $1500

Crank $650 to $1000

Carrera Fed Tensioners $350 used

Turbo Valve covers $75 to $100

5 Pistons $400?

I am trying to get a fair price for items without ripping someone off.

My mechanic knows someone who wants my engine, but I feel like the one being taken at the above prices as I think about it.

The price is low, no question. I would think a 3.0 core is worth at least 2k. Depending on the buyer maybe more.

Figure
1000 for the case
400 min for the heads
150 for cam tower
75 for core cams
50ish for the valve covers
100 oil cooler
Tensioners 250-300
crank 650-750 (if standard/standard)
rods 100
Rocker arms 50
oil pump ?

The above are what I see and have paid/sold as minimum prices for these parts. Could get a lot more for some of them.

Now, is it a long block or complete? Because there is fan and housing, alternator, shroud, intake, airbox, WUR etc.

It is a give away at 1500 for sure. The pistons could go either way. 5 pistons are hard to sell and it all depends on how they measure out. Is the 6th one junk for sure?

Hope that helps a little?

Cheers

Yikes!

I still think your mechanic is hosing you, but just my opinion. I know I would pay more than 1500 for it.

Cheers
