suggested cam timing and why
I will be timing may cams on my 3.2 ss turbo motor here in the next day or so and wanted to take a poll of what specs you guys would suggest. I could go stock as these are SC cams and this is an sc engine with 8.5-1 JE pistons flat top turbo pistons.. What benifits would I have of your suggestions. I am not looking for anything past 6800 RPM so thats not a concern.. thanks for your time.. Oh this is a 12 plug EFI set up if you guys care and looking for the quickest spool ..

Why would you use other than the stock settings?
Cheers

I mean low end or high end of the tolerance as some say earlier boost versus later. I was more curious then anything. I am not taking it as word

I don't know about what is best for the turbo motor you're building but I've found that on the normally asperated engines an advanced cam seems to give better overall results. The loss of power above 6500 RPM is much less noticable than the gain at the low end 3000-4500 RPM. I suspect it will be the same for your engine. In addition an advanced cam will help at the lower RPM before the turbo spools up. I'd set 1.7mm on the overlap. This is the most advanced setting of the 3 different factory ranges on these cams. I use 1.4mm on my race car but I spin it to 7200 RPM and have carbs.

1.4 - 1.7 mm is the best all around setting for the SC cam in a turbo engine. With 8.5-1 compression, you might retard the cams to .9-1.1 mm, depending on your turbo and expected boost psi.
