Angry Arrrg- buggered the spigot surface removing studs

I was removing the last stud on the case to replace with steel and wasn't paying enough attention. The removal tool gouged into the spigot surface where the case meets the cylinder; Maximum depth is about 0.02" towards the center of the cylinder. You can see the build up of the Al from the gouge.

Options?

Here's a disgusting picture

I see two options. First you can have the block decked, don't forget the cam chain boxes will need to be decked at the same time. Second, fill the divot with Devcon. This is a two part aluminum filled epoxy. Aircraft Spruce carries it. Once cured file to flat. Either way will work.

Good luck,
neil

Devcon seems to be a brand name for a variety of products - I found an Aluminum Putty which may work?:

Quote:
Aluminum Putty (F)

Aluminum-filled epoxy putty for dependable non-rusting repairs to aluminum castings, machinery and equipment widely used in HVAC applications.

That is the stuff. John Walker says JB Weld will work. I would use that it, is easier to get and cheaper. I am all about cheaper!
