Where can I send my Flywheel for Re-Surfacing? I'm in Northern Calif. Hello everyone, I'd like some one reputable to resurface my 84 Carrera Flywheel, any recommendations and cost estimates for this kind of work? Oh, can anyone recommend a shop to ulatrasonically clean out my oil tank as well? Thanks! Alex |

I actually have the same question, but I'm on the other side of the country in Massachusetts. Can flywheel resurfacing be done by any reputable engine rebuilding shop? Thanks. Geoff |

Geoff, Excellent question, there are two shops here in Hollister where I live but I would prefer to take it to someone that has done Porsche work already. Good Luck, Alex |

we've taken a few to a place in Moutain View, it's on Old Middlefield Rd. and Ted at German Precision may be set up to do the oil tank. I don't know the proper way(s) to clean this he has a big citrus cleaner with ultrasonic system. The flywheel guy took off about 0.005" on the two surfaces. I can't remember name of the flywheel guy...I can try to dig it up if you PM me henry.coles@hp.com |

The place on Old Middlefield in Mountain View is called "Ellsworth's". edit: it's at 2415 Old Middlefield Way, the number is 650.968.7884 |

chris - I thought I read somewhere that Porsche flywheels needed to be resurface a special way (may ground done) as opposed to turned on a lath or something like that... ?? |
