Question 3.6 engine break in before a race

I just finished my C4's 3.6 rebuild (new bearings, new gaskets, new rings, valve job - that's it), and have the Tribute POC races coming up in 1 month. I won't have 1000 miles on the engine by the time the race comes up. I've run it for 90 miles so far, and will change the oil this weekend at 100 miles.

Is there harm in racing (meaning I'm going to the 6800 redline with a big smile!!) this car? Do I really need 1000 miles of driving on the odometer before I can run it all the way out?

What's wrong with going to redline with an engine that has the original cams/rocker arms?? I might understand if they were re-ground, otherwise what am I missing?

Thanks for your opinions.

The critical parts of break-in happen very quickly indeed, so if you have 90 miles on the engine, I wouldn't worry. The last two race engines I built the break-in was 20-25 laps on the track and then three dyno pulls.

The track is the best place to break in the new engine. I don't know if I'd use every single last rpm, maybe limit it to 6200-6500 untill you are comfortable. (though this restriction is more for you than the engine I think)
