Cam Timing Since cam timing is a topic that seems to throw doubts into engine rebuilds.. We recently took a Supercup engine, and twin turboed it Only 4 cams to time :p Initial set up http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174274206.jpg Fixture and dial indicators in place http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174274291.jpg Yeap degree wheel http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174274445.jpg fine adjustments http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174274508.jpg Cam timing http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174274566.jpg FYI |

Nifty tools Tim. You guys make them? |

Thanks for a view of how the other 1% lives! That's some engine. The latest Excellence notes that the 8 cylinder type 771 engine (used in the 907) took the factory 220 hours to assemble. How long for one of these? Walt Fricke |

I read that too, Walt, about the 771. The same paragraph said it took 16 hours to assemble a 906 engine, which is basically a 901. . . then again that's assembly only, not teardown, rework and reassembly. Back to Tim's topic, what makes this engine's cam timing different than any other four-cam 996 motor? Not to downplay the significance in the slightest, on the contrary, those four-valve water-cooled engines are pretty complicated. Is that Richie in the photo? |
