Cam Timing
Since cam timing is a topic that seems to throw doubts into engine rebuilds..
We recently took a Supercup engine, and twin turboed it Only 4 cams to time ![]() Initial set up ![]() Fixture and dial indicators in place ![]() Yeap degree wheel ![]() fine adjustments ![]() Cam timing ![]() FYI

Thanks for a view of how the other 1% lives! That's some engine.
The latest Excellence notes that the 8 cylinder type 771 engine (used in the 907) took the factory 220 hours to assemble. How long for one of these? Walt Fricke |

I read that too, Walt, about the 771. The same paragraph said it took 16 hours to assemble a 906 engine, which is basically a 901. . . then again that's assembly only, not teardown, rework and reassembly.
Back to Tim's topic, what makes this engine's cam timing different than any other four-cam 996 motor? Not to downplay the significance in the slightest, on the contrary, those four-valve water-cooled engines are pretty complicated. Is that Richie in the photo?
