Cam Lobe Pitting?
![]() Hi, this picture shows a cam lobe that is pitted. 1 - Would you consider using this cam.No signs of wear + Rocker is OK. 2 - Has this cam been Re-profiled and the surface is starting to break up. Anyone had a similar problem? Thanks in advance Chris. |

I had a similar pitting problem. I asked camgrinder to look at the photo I posted and he said it would only get worse. I had mine reground.
On the other hand, JW told me he sees this alot when he does valve adjustments and can see inside, and he doesn't necessarily recommend regrind.

If I discovered this on a valve adjustment I'd leave it alone. Since you have the engine apart I'd fix it. You can have the cams refinished and the rockers refinished as well. It's not that expensive and you already have the engine apart.
