Dizzy question

I have a distributor question if I may.

I've been running a Bosch unit on my carbed 2.0L 69L engine after replacing the Marelli unit that came with the engine. The part number is 0-231-169-008, and i have been searching for replacement points after burning up a set at the end of last season. I don't like driving around on filed points, so the search has been on. After not being able to find reference to this dizzy number, I asked our host and they advised that the dizzy part number cross checks to a 74-77 2.7S engine and should use those points.

However, I just tore down a 75 2.7S CIS engine, and the dizzy part number on that is 0-231-184-004, so apparently I have a non-standard distributor on my 2.0L.

That got me thinking. Can I run my current dizzy on the 2.7 once I get it done? It will be built to RS specs, but running carbs instead of MFI, and I might go with Mod-S cams or the DC equivalent. My guess is that I will need to get the curve checked anyway, but just wondered if anyone else might be familiar with my current distributor and its ability to run on either engine.

Thanks,

Dion

No, The castings are different. You can however, have the cis dizzy recurved for rs specs.
