What kind of pistons are these?

I bought a 3.0 and pulled it apart. My guess is that these are 3.2 euro spec Nikasil pistons. How say you?

Couple of important notes:

10 fin, rib on fin, magnetic, no gasket between cylinder and cylinder head.
The text says: 95 8.85 / 28+

I say KS :
- The markings look like KS
- The cylinders hafe a long rim intersecting the others
- It looks like you do have a gasket - it's the c-ring that is fitting in the grove on the cylinder in the pictures (or maybe it's an optical illusion from a head imprint)

Check to see if the cylinder is magnetic. Do it far from the pistons, as Alusil had ferrous coated pistons.

Regards,
Andrew M

I'm pretty sure it says 95 not ks, it is a little unclear though.

The cylinder on the head mating side has a factory groove and it is very magnetic at that point also (away from the piston).

I think there are also 9 broken divlar studs... buts thats another story.

Okay sorry, I'm wrong the only this magnetic part was the sealing ring on the top of the cylinder.

I didn't notice that there was a sealing ring in there... oops. So they are stock 9.3:1 Alusil, but they appear to be usable...

I always thought that Mahle made all of the 9.8:1 Euro 3.0 P&C's but I think my euro engine also has the same cylinders (I haven't taken it apart yet). Maybe you have 9.8:1 KS P&Cs?

Garage
3.0 9.3:1 Kolben Schmit alusil.
The different between 9.8 and 9.3 is the low area on the dome.
If the low area is low than the piston deck, a crater then the piston is 9.3. The high comp pistons are flat in that area.
