87Carrera alternator installation ?
Upon installing a new Valeo alternaor I found the grey bullet air deflector is not fitting. It is close, but it appears to be hitting at the B+ lead. I am removing a Bosch remanufactured alternator which appears to be slightly less deep than the Valeo. I think I can modify the bullet to make it fit, but before I start cutting away I wondered if anybody else has had this problem. It is a 87 Carrera.

Yes, this is a common problem. The stud sticks out so far that it hits the airguide, right? I think I cut mine off with a dremel. Do NOT get filings or shavings in the alternator. If you have to trim the airguide, don't get fiberglass shards on your skin.

Ooops.. NPF. When I went back to the pictures I took I did not do what it showed. When I realigned the alternator in the shroud the bullet fit just fine. My bad.
