Dropping motor from 964 C4 - Question

I'm pulling the motor from a C4. I have it moving down but I think the transmission won't drop any further. Is there anything special I need to do to the transmission to have the motor drop? For example - do I have to remove the cross member etc?

I have only ever taken engine and trans out as one unit. We still do that in the shop now. Disconnect the torque tube from the trans (and some other parts, just as in the workshop manual) and the eng/trans drops straight out.

With it all out, now is the time to do the front diff input shaft seal and sealing washer....the usual cause of leakage.

The throttle cable can either be disconnected at the front of the vehicle or from the engine as it's being dropped..which ever is easiest for you.
