Porsche Crest Wayne's engine book ordered, now what?

I need some advice.

I am thinking doing an engine rebuild myself as a project for some education and hopefully some fun.

I am looking at building a race engine SLOWLY so I am looking to get an egine core (short block) and build it up while still racing with the current stockies, .

The category is Australian Historic racing group Sc and car is a 76 Carrera 3.0

1) Engine: Cylinder block and head must be original. Internal components of the engine are free save that the crankshaft stroke must be original. The cylinder bore may be increased by a maximum of 1.5mm beyond original dimensions. Cylinder head/s may be modified provided such modification is effected only by the removal of metal.

2) Induction: Carburettors or fuel injection systems must be of the same make, type and number originally fitted to the vehicle. Carburettor bore size is free. Carburettor inlet manifolds are free except that they must be of a type compatible with the period.
Fuel injection systems must only use the intake manifold and throttle body as fitted to that model by the manufacturer. The bore size of the injection manifold may only be modified by removal of metal. Pollution control devices can be removed and extraneous holes for pollution devices can be plugged.
Superchargers or turbochargers are not per-mitted unless part of the original specification.

3) Electrical equipment: All electrical equipment must be unmodified from the original specifications, and fully operative.
The dynamo/generator may not be replaced by an alternator.
Electronic ignition devices are not permitted, unless included in the original specification.
Electronic revolution limiters are permitted.

Basically must use CIS, and original ignition and engine case and head, but free otherwise. Cam, compression etc...

Q1) Where can I find a useable Carrera 3.0 core?
Q2) What cam to use?
Q3) What compression?

TIA.
