Cold compression test

Hi
I know that a compression test should be done on a warm engine, but yesterday I did one for the first time when I changed my plugs, see thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=356768.

But does a cold test have any value?

I got some pretty lousy results (I'm at sea level):
#1 110 psi
#2 140
#3 140
#4 120
#5 142
#6 110

Then I put some oil in the cylinders
#1 130
#2 150
#3 150
#4 135
#5 145
#6 142

But I don't know if the oil sealed bad rings or just a cold engine, do I?
And yes, I should probably perform a proper leak down test.

Why not do a hot comp. test ????

Convenience, I had all plugs removed...
