Question Throttle position sensor

I was just testing the throttle position sensor (Bosch 280.120.309) on my 1988 3.2L (3.5L) before I bolt the engine back in and it doesn't seem to work the way I expected.

It has 3 pins on it but I only get a reading across 2 of them.

I thought it was a potentiometer type sensor but after some extensive searching on here it looks like it is just a WOT switch, am I right in this assumption ?

what's the 3rd pin for ?
