Rod Bolt Source
I am looking for a source for rod bolts? Anybody? Everybody says to change these when you rebuild but I can't seem to find someplace to purchase?

If these are for the SC listed in your sig, then just you should be fine with a set of factory nuts and bolts (assuming a stock rebuild) The factory bolts are a "one use only" bolt. They can be torqued but once.
I would take Steve's advice and order a set from Pelican. Cheers

Sorry for not being clear but these are for my 914. I've found the nuts on the Pelican site but no bolts?
I posted here because I've had little to no response on the 914 site. Pelican is my first choice!

This is for the '75 1.8l four cylinder. There has to be a cheaper option than the ARP bolts?

Hello there.
Its not normal rebuild practice to change rod bolts on the four cylinders: only the nuts. If you really want to get stronger bolts I'd see what the VW sites have to say.. Kind regards David |

I assumed after finding that nobody sells them, but several people have told me otherwise? I found a cheap source and will most likely change them unless the machine shop charges are outrageous. Why would people recommend changing the rod bolts on a 911 and not the Type 4?

hello, vance.
Its not merely arecommendation. Its the factory spec: the design of the bolts is completely differnt. the 911 bolts are permanently strecthed when installed correctly. But the 914 bolt is designed to operate within its elastic limit. Kind regards david |
