Small Cracks in Case - Is This Normal ?

cleaned the gunk of my motor and found these small cracks. i'm not sure if this is normal or if someone overtorqued the case nuts.
any suggestions ?

Those are just casting marks, you should be able to feel them raised up.

Darn! We ought to make it a point for the first responder to these to say that the case is trashed. Then wait 1 day before telling the poster we're kidding.

I verified there was no crack in mine by using penetrating dye:

my main concern are the ones that spread out from the case studs/nuts. they look like they spread from overtorqueing or something. one even looks as if it has a little piece that's chipping up.

I did that to another pelican when we tore his apart, had him going for about 5 minutes. It was not pretty, but funny as he!!

My favorite:

When I'm around someone I know will be assembling a bottom end, I grab an extra oil-pump seal out of my shop and carry it in my pocket. Then when the last thru-bolt is assembled I pull it out and say "isn't this the oil-pump seal?" ppl hate me.
