Funny object on chain Tensioner
Look what I just found mounted on the chain tensioner:
![]() It funnels the oil to that screw on the tensioner. Boy, if this falls off - thats it for the engine. harold

The white stuff is assembly lube. I got this engine in a rolling empty early targa - terminated restoration project. The engine had been rebuild, never run, never timed, just money thrown on it without brains. I do not know who did the work.
The targa tub is about rust free after someone did a lot of welding. When I examined the engine I found the funnels on the chain tensioner's. Harold

It looked like White Lithium Grease which is bad if it is, it does not mix well with oil, but if its assembly lube it should be ok

Ok ...I'm rather slow on the uptake. What possible purpose would those pieces serve? How are they even attached to the engine? It's not like there is a large flow of oil there that they are 'catching' to aid lubricating something???
Confused here????
