SCCA 2.0 .040 over racing piston. They were made by Mahle and supplied in quantity to racers all around the country and used primarily for club (SCCA) racing. My guess would be mid to late 70s early 80s.
I rebuilt an engine 20 years ago that was raced by Wolfgang Maike (sp) in D Production racing. Some of these pistons had a Dykes rings. An invention of Paul Dykes. These rings were the top ring of two and had an L shaped and fit into a special stepped groove. Porsche racing has come full circle in that the GT3 RS engines has the same two ring configuration.
