CIS Install Questions

I recently rebuilt an 81 SC ROW 9.8 CR engine w/ SSI's and MSD. There is no induction system currently since I sold off the EFI setup to pay of some other items. Have a limited budget at this point so CIS is likely my best option and I really plan to use the car as a driver, not planning on racing. Just want a reliable smooth power and a more original look.

My questions would be -- which CIS setup would work best with this car? I think the 81 Euro CIS had the 34MM runners according to Bruce Anderson's Perf Book. The 78-79 setup with 39MM runners may allow it to breathe a bit better.

Have a line on a few different CIS systems and am getting ready to make a purchase. Leaning towards a 78/79 system but still learning and open to all options. I am pretty new to working on CIS, so any input or wisdom would be much appreciated. And if anyone out there has a clean 78-79 setup or a 81-83 ROW euro setup, let me know, I may be interested in a purchase.

Thanks in advance

I believe the 3.0 Euro engines all had the 39 mm intake ports and the runners to match. I checked all the part numbers in PET for the Euro engines for both the heads and the intake runners. I told Bruce about what I found while at the Hershey Parade, and he conceded that there could be an error his book. If there is anyone reading this who has experience that the Euro engines had the smaller heads and runners, please correct me, and let us know what it is based on.

Mark, please check the intake port sizes on your Euro engine and let us know what you find.

I do have a complete CIS from a Carrera 3.0 with the larger runners. Let me know if you have any interest.

Thanks Jim -- I just went out and measured my intakes on my 81 Euro and indeed they are 39 MM.

I will send you an email about the large runner CIS you have available..
