3.6 head studs
i put a magnet to my studs and nothing. that means dilivar, right?
they are all in good shape. should i replace them with steel ones or just leave them alone? |
Replace them with the best, Supertec head studs.
They are available from our host PP. |
The 993 dilivar studs seem to hold up better than the old ones. If they look good with no corrosion I'd use them. You don't say what kind of engine you have but if it's an aluminum case then steel studs are also a good choice. If it's a mag case then those dilivar studs are the only ones I'd use.

My 1992 3.6l's head studs are magnetic.
|
sorry, it's a 90 C2.
they look just fine to me. are the 993 studs different than the 964 studs? i'll check out the supertec ones. i saw some ARPs too. are they any good? |
|
the flash actually makes them look much more beat up than they really do
|
Those are not 993 studs, 993 studs are threaded the whole length. They look like the replacement Dilivar studs that have been sold over the last 20 years or so. I would use either new 993 dilivar studs or any steel studs such as factory, ARP, Supertec, etc. The studs you have may be better than the original dilivar studs but unless you had a Mag case engine I wouldn't take a chance on them.
