What do I do with my Alusils?
I have a set of Alusil cylinders and Mahle pistons with 76k from an '87 3.2. No damage that I can see, but I have not measured them and there are no rings on the pistons currently. They were replaced by a set of 3.4 P&Cs from Supertec. So what do I do with the Alusils? Do they have any value at all? I am headed to the dump tomorrow and I don't mind taking them with me if that's what it comes to. Thanks.

There are some people who would re-ring them and use them if the ring lands are ok. You could put the used parts list. If the ring lands are in spec they could be worth a couple hundred dollars. If the lands are out of spec then they are basically worthless.

Your 3.2 Alusil cylinders can be bored and replated. I've sold several sets of 3.2 Alusils on the board.

EBS buys Alusil cylinders.

easure them and if they are within spec thay can be reused. You may need to ship them to a machine shop that specifically cleans and has the specific tools to hone the alusils.

They certainly have a core value to folks who bore them to 98mm. Call EBS and see, but I guessing in exess of 400.00.... Same is not true for 95mm SC cylinders.
I have re ringed a couple of sets of alusil with success, as have others, but I still feel it is a crap shoot. Cheers |
Thanks for all the replies. I don't want to reuse them, I want them to go away! A deal is in the works.
