Intermediate Shaft Difference!!

Question, I have an early (1966) aluminum cased engine that I'm rebuilding and it doesn't have bearings for the intermediate shaft. I have an early Int. Shaft and the aluminum gear doesn't have the 6 bolt holes, instead it has a gear with 3 bolt holes and 3 dowels in there instead. I bought the gear from our host and they sent me the later one with the 6 bolt holes (8mm), I'm not finding an early style (3 bolt) gear on our host website. I don't wanna send my case out for machining! Am I outta luck?
THanks,
Nabil
