Talking Charleston, SC area Pelicans - Join me for a rebuild!

(I posted this on the tech forum too - might get longer exposure here)

Well, I took the plunge and bought a 1980 3.0 engine that needs to be rebuilt.

My plan is to rebuild this "spare" over the next six months (give or take a couple of months) and swap it in for my tired engine that is in my 82 SC. I bought the spare so that I could take my time with the rebuild - it also allows me to keep enjoying my 82 SC during the entire rebuild process.

I have never really worked on cars until I got my SC three years ago. I have only replaced the shocks, replaced the internal voltage regulator, sone some serious CIS troubleshooting, changed plugs, changed oil, changed fuel filter, fixed decel valve, set ignition timing, replaced alternator fan strap, installed return / supply oil lines, and installed an external oil cooler in the fender well. Basically I am a noob!

I feel confident that I can get this done with the help of this forum, Wayne's books, and the Bentley.

If any local Pelicans are interested in helping, watching, loaning tools, etc ... you are welcome to join in on the fun. Please PM me if you are so inclined!
