3.2L longblock missing throttle body: what's the best answer

I just picked up a 3.2 Carrera longblock without the injection throttle body and a few other parts. It is going to replace a chevy 350 in my 914 (ebay special). Since it doesn't have the throttle body now but did come with a megasquirt, is there an easy answer to fix my fuel problem e.g. does anybody have preferences/recommendations for one of the following over the other:
1) buy the throttle body. I will also have to replace the fuel pump, fuel systems etc. this might be the cheapest.
2) buy webers (I know them well). Will 40s work and is there a known good setup for the 3.2? Does anybody have a good experience with this that will avoid popping, snapping, hesitation, flat spots, etc.
3) try to fix a megasquirt that is coming with the engine? it wouldn't idle for the previous owner so he wasn't happy with it.

any and all comments, recommendations, feedback is greatly appreciated.
thanks
marlin

Hi Marlin, did the 3.2 come with all of the DME control items? Just how much of the intake is complete? What type of transmission are you going to be using? It sounds like you are going to be doing some quality rebuilt or used parts shopping. PM me if you want. Tony.

3.2 intake best answer

Have been traveling 100% since the last post, finally got to look at the package I got and discovered the following:

1) no intake at all
2) DME or an MSD 6A set up
3) both styles of exhaust are possible

I also got a late 80s 915 with LSD 8:31 with a flipped ring and pinion since this is going in a 914. very high fifth gear because it was connected to the V8.

I am familiar with Webers. Will Webers work with a 1987 US spec 3.2? 40s or 46s? Can 40s be made to work? Is this a proven combination? Or do I need to go with the DME stuff?

Any and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated to make this run right.
thanks in advance

If you have the DME and all the wiring purchasing a full Carrera intake set-up is probably your best bet. SB around $750 complete, although prices have been rising.
Carbs are the bomb in my book, but 40's are way too small for a 3.2 Probably looking at a minimum 46's if not 50's. They are impossible to find used so you are looking at $3k+ new. If you go that route you will have to ditch the DME set-up, sell for $$, and switch to a dizzy-less ignition or MSD/dizzy set-up. Mayeb sell the Mega set-up too to recover some cash. you'll need to address fuel pump fuel filters and a few other items too.
All depends on what you want in the end. I would detail the options so you knwo what your;e in for before you get started. Couild get very expensive quickly.

46 Webers on 3.2

thank you very much for your answer. I have a line on a set of 46 PMOs for a reasonable price. Has anybody used 46s on a 3.2 with out any other changes to the longblock? Is this viable? or do I just need to buy the standard intake which appears to be the safest choice (although I would have to do a bunch of work with the fuel pump, fuel lines etc to make this work in a 914.

thanks in advance
