Re-Torquing Heads procedure

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but is there a certain procedure in head re-torquing? Do you back off a 1/4 turn and then torque? Or do you just check and then add pressure when needed to achieve correct torque?

Did a search and found the answer......many answers. Seems this subject has been beaten to death many times.
