There are many that will only use Mahle for street use claiming that they wear better and are higher quality. However, the last couple sets of JE's that I have installed with new cylinders have checked out at .0013 to .0015 for piston skirt to wall clearance, which is as good as Mahle. It hasn't helped that the last time I tried to get a single 100mm piston from Mahle I received absolutely NO help. If you need a single JE pistons you can get it within weeks. So in my opinion the Mahles are not worth the money, (or inconvenience if you have to order a single because of mishaps) The off the shelf 98mm piston that JE offers in the new forging is a very good piston. If you can't find what you want I have a set sitting (JE 98's with bored and plated 98mm cylinders) that I am willing to sell.
